 In August 2000 I accepted the task of implementing the Web as a new way of presenting the ICTAC. ICTAC is an international scientific organisation for research using thermal analysis to describe materials, chemical compounds, and chemical reactions.
With the experience I had from a couple of similar Danish societies I made one condition: The web-site should be designed and maintained by a professional web-designer because such a task tends to grow and develop with time and with the innovative interaction with members.
Our choice fell on hddp://webdesign run by Pam du Kamp - both because her quotation was very realistic, and in agreement with what ICTAC was willing to spend, - and also because of her previous work for ICTAC News, a paper-based newsletter - which was slowly moving into cyberspace.
And I must say that hddp://webdesign met our expectations: Within 3 weeks we had basically all pages on our Menu up and running, including:
- Who-Is-Who in ICTAC
- contacts in all member countries
- list-server for those members who want to receive news
- relevant sponsors
- password protected pages for members
- links to connected societies
- Upcoming Events site etc.
Also our web-site was registered with a number of leading search engines to make search results more relevant.
It is fascinating to be working over distances covering the whole Globe within short time spans - I am situated in Denmark, Pam du Kamp in Canada, and we have contacts in Brazil, Australia, and Japan.
Now - after Year 1 - I am looking back on a successful cooperation with hddp://webdesign and looking forward to a just as promising Year 2!

I would like to acknowledge all of the incredible work Pam du Kamp has done for Burnewood Community League's (BCL) website. Pam volunteered to create and maintain the site for the BCL in 1999 and has maintained it ever since. Not only did Pam create the site with little or no creative input from the Executive, she ended up creating exactly what we all wanted but didn't know it. Pam always keeps the site up to date and over the past three years it has evolved into the league's major communication vehicle. It is easy to navigate and has many features and links that continually keep the members of the Burnewood Community up to date on the League's activities and the world at large. In October 1999, I decided that I needed a personal web site to compliment my online "presence". The idea behind this was to have a site that focuses on me and my life. However, I had neither the time, or expertise to do this in the way I wanted so I turned to Pam du Kamp, who was quickly able to ascertain what I would want on and from the site. Despite being thousands of miles away, Pam was able to extract everything she needed to know to build the site for me. By showing me colour schemes and styles, I was able to give her enough of an idea to build the site exactly the way I wanted. Not only was Pam able to do this well, she was also able to do this quickly and efficiently. In only the space of a couple of days, Pam was able to take my original rough ideas and create a great looking site. I think I was very lucky to get this help, as it is rare for someone to have the knack of creating something special without needing direct contact with their customer. I had the pleasure of working with Pam du Kamp late last year when I decided to revamp my entire web site. I had no idea where I wanted to go with my site, but Pam is very creative and knows how to take a few sketchy ideas and dream up wonderful designs.
